Program 1. ART CLASS STUDIO – 135.00/6-week session. Includes materials.
This is a “fun art projects for everyone” class! Students select from a variety of media to create artworks that interest them while learning the basics of art fundamentals and rendering skills. This class offers instruction in Pen & Ink Illustration; Cartooning; Charcoal, Graphite & Color Pencil Drawing; Pastels; Oil, Acrylic & Watercolor Painting; and Multi-Media. The studio has reference materials, stock photo library and still-life objects to help inspire as students flow from project to project, selecting subjects from landscapes, seascapes, still life, portrait, animals, architecture, fantasy creatures, fashion textile design and whatever else interests them. Block Printing, Plaster Relief Sculpture and Mural Panel Painting are special projects that will also be made available at each trimester during the school year. All students receive individualized instruction, finish at their own pace, and participate in group art lesson exercises. Traditional to contemporary art styles and techniques will be taught, and experimenting with various media is encouraged for those students who enjoy self expression. The sky is the limit!

For the art-focused student who craves to create a good “likeness” in their artwork, this class will nurture your child’s talents with step-by-step methods and guided instruction for achieving a more realistic drawing and painting. Instruction on how to render light, shadows and midtone values along with teaching the tools for correcting shapes are emphasized during each project. Whether it be animals, nature, landscapes, seascapes, still life objects, architectural scenes or people, students choose to work from subjects that interest them as they learn how to see and render “the big picture” for setting up a more simple approach to the details such as animal textures, wood grains, fabrics and folds, smooth and reflective surfaces, transparent glass and liquids, facial features, ocean waves…and much more! Drawings are done in choices of charcoal, graphite, color pencil and pastels. Painters work in their choice of oils or acrylics. Each student receives individualized instruction tailored to their personal learning pace and ability. All art levels, beginner through advanced will benefit from this class.
